It’s not possible to stay dry during the day, so make sure you have a dry set of clothes for sleeping in, kept in a separate dry bag. Cotton clothing is cooler but takes a long time to dry and will feel heavier when water logged. Synthetic clothing will dry quicker and is lighter but will often feel clammy in very humid conditions.
You’ll sweat under a waterproof even if it is ‘Gortex’ so consider a poncho, this can also be used as a ground sheet or basha.
Jungle boots are made for the environment and should always be considered for extended stays. Wellingtons are a viable option if you are not doing long treks but always invest in a good set of innersoles for them. Otherwise, a well worn in pair of walking boots will sufce, just take extra care of your feet at night. Preferably your footwear should be non waterproof and non padded for breathability and so they dry out quickly. Leech socks treated with 100% Deet are your best protection from leeches.
