Meet the Bristol Team:
Our staff are knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile in order to ensure that your kit and travel health requirements are fulfilled. Between us we have extensive experience having travelled throughout the world, and actively pursue a broad range of outdoor activities.

Mark
Mark is happiest when in the mountains, preferably with either a tent or a snowboard. After spending a couple of years travelling, he is currently enjoying rediscovering every corner of the British Isles and remembering that there is much adventure to be had closer to home – Torridon in the North-West Highlands was a recent highlight. Mark spent three weeks in August trekking in the mountains of Zanskar and Ladakh.

Louis
Louis is an intrepid traveller and outdoor enthusiast. Our resident Antipodean, growing up in New Zealand gave him the opportunity to explore the amazing wildness of the country when hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. While living in Japan he travelled throughout the land of the rising sun and backpacked throughout South East Asia. He has explored Central Europe, Mediterranean Europe, and Morocco, and has just returned from a week in Ireland.

Brano
Brano grew up in Slovakia and has travelled widely through Europe and is our Eastern European specialist. He loves cycling and walking through the British countryside and is an accomplished photographer. Brano has just returned from a trip back to Slovakia, where he spent much time enjoying an area called Slovak Paradise, a place that he insists we must all visit!

Elliot
Elliot was brought up travelling around the world with his adventurous parents. Last year he trekked in India, Nepal, and the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. He is currently studying physiotherapy at the University of West England.

Chris
Chris hails from Boulder, Colorado and is passionate about the outdoors especially deserts. Chris is studying for his PHD in Archaeology and can often be found organising archaeological digs across the South West.

Harry
Harry is an experienced Bushcraft and Survival Instructor. He enjoys wilderness camping and has trekked across most of Europe surviving on wild food and indigenous hunting techniques. He also writes a weekly column every Saturday on all things Bushcraft and Nature for the Bristol Evening Post, and has recently started his own business instructing bushcraft technique.

Cath
Cath is the newest addition to our team. Cath loves anything to do with the great outdoors, and combines her interest in Zoology with many of her trips. She has worked previously for the US Forest Service focussing on wildlife, wilderness and trail management in Montana and is the only member of our team to hold a snowmobile licence, of which we are all extremely envious!

Richard
Richard is the latest addition to the Bristol team, and he joins us with a wealth of outdoor and travel experience. Richard is an avid climber and fell runner and has explored the crags of North Wales (he lived in Llanberis for 3 years), Yosemite National Park, the Alps, Morocco and New Zealand. He has literally just returned from a three month cycling tour of Europe; he started in Estonia and made his way back to the UK on a 5300km route that took him through a total of 14 countries.

Azam
Azam has recently returned from an expedition with Raleigh International to Central America. Travelling independently through Guatemala first, he then spent time living in a remote settlement building a community centre in Nicaragua and then alongside park rangers in La Cangreja National Park. To complete the expedition, Azam completed a 252km trek in Northern Nicaragua, and he has also travelled to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The Nurses

Lucy
Our Lead Nurse Lucy has recently moved to Bristol after completing a round-the-world trip. During her adventures, Lucy visited Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and the United States. Other trips have included Peru, Thailand and she also completed a charity trek on the Great Wall of China. Lucy has just been on a celebratory birthday trip to Kenya and Tanzania with our good friends Explore!

Jo
Jo is probably the most widely-travelled of all of our team. Amongst many other exciting adventures, Jo has travelled independently overland from Cairo to Capetown, has explored the Middle East and countless countries in Europe. She has a deep love of New Zealand, and is happiest standing in the shadows of big mountains, Next on the list for Jo is Scandinavia!

Travelproof Self-Inflating Mat – forget the bulky carry mats that you used for your Duke of Edinburgh expedition, these mats offer superb comfort but their pack-size is drastically smaller leaving you plenty of room to lug other essentials with you to your festival of choice! Naturally we are expecting/praying for a long, hot summer so this item will no doubt be used over and over again if, like me you love to get out of the city and sleep under canvas...

Bristol Customer Reviews (as taken from www.yelp.co.uk/biz/nomad-travel-clinic-and-store-bristol)

“Park Street's Nomad store is a great pre-travelling one-stop-shop because not only does it sell travel gear such as backpacks and sleeping bags, but it also has a travel clinic offering advice and vaccines.

At a basic level Nomad sells all the obvious essentials such as insect spray and mosquito nets, while at the other extreme it also offers just about every travel gadget you could imagine, from sophisticated GPS navigation tools to elaborate penknives and personal security alarms. The staff at this branch are really helpful too, so it's a good place to go if you're not sure exactly what you need.

The clothing range is all good quality brands, and there's plenty suitable for walking and trekking trips requiring special gear.

For those with less ambitious travel plans, Nomad still has plenty to offer - from gadgets that make great presents, such as wind-up torches, to practical walking gear such as boots and gaiters that can be used at home in the UK” – by Rebecca Burns

“If you're planning something a little more exotic than a trip to Costa Brava then this is a great place to come for sensible and practical advice on travelling and to get any vaccinations done. Although it seems a bit odd to head to what initially looks like a camping shop to get your yellow fever jab done actually these guys are up-to-date with the current information on what you need where and when. You can get same-day jabs if you haven't been good at planning or have an emergency trip.

In the shop below they have high-end hiking and travel-kit gear, but they do take their sales seriously so expect good discounts when they are on. If you go in-store (or online) they have handy 'kit-lists' for different types of climate so you base your packing around it. Great for first-time explorers and professionals alike” – by Janine Kay
