Paul Goodyer, CEO & Co Founder

At just 17 Paul set off on his first independent trip across Europe and into Northern Africa. He was away for ten months encountering some of the first overland companies and experiencing life with indigenous tribes. During this and subsequent extensive journies through Africa and the Middle East, he learnt the pitfalls of being inadequately equipped and the misery of bad travel health.

As a career, he went into retail selling army surplus and camping gear on local markets. This led to his first shop in 1986. This was followed by a second store in 1990 and the birth of Nomad. Teaming up with his medically trained brother Larry, the concept of providing a one stop shop supplying both travel gear and travel health services was put into action with the country's first outdoor store with travel pharmacy. The first clinic was then opened in 1991.

17 years later, Nomad is now opening its 6th & 7th clinics and stores. Following through with the same ethos as in 1991 - kitting travellers out with the right clothing, equipment and medical supplies - Paul is still travelling on a regular basis, testing out new lines, and making up his own!
