Didn't get lost in France - Timex Adventure Tech Digital Compass Watch
I bought this Timex Digital Compass Watch to help me drive around France on a recent road trip over the Easter break. The face was large and clear and I found the digital compass to be very accurate, even when on the move in the car. And used on a walk around the countryside, with the guidance of a map, meant that I didn't get lost. Overall I thought that this was a great gadget that will get plenty of use on my travels. Sahara Raider Bag
My friend has a Sahara Raider Bag, and when I saw it I had to get myself one. It is big enough, yet compact, with lots of pockets. A small external pocket for eg passport would be useful. Reviewed by Andrew, Devon.

Vango Sigma 200 Tent - Small but sturdy

Packing made easy
I love these cubes. I bought two of the big sized ones (full cube), and two medium ones (half cube). Together, all four fit perfectly into my suitcase. I can keep clothing separated from electrical cords (so many when you are travelling!), and it just makes the whole packing experience so much easier. By Belinda from Edinburgh
Brilliant piece of kit.
What a fantastic product. Can be used as a day sack (there are hidden straps), or as a shoulder bag. This is certainly the item to buy. Have been using it around town and it looks really cool! Can't wait to use it on my travels. There is space for my journal, water bottle and all those other things that no respecting traveller would be without. Brilliant. by Jo from Dingwall
Everything but the bathroom sink
I was delighted with this handy, lightweight and compact product. It has several clear plastic compartments for storing all my toiletries and make-up in one, easy to see, place. No more searching to the bottom of my rucksack for my toothbrush, it keeps even me in a tidy and ordered manner!!! By Gail from Creswell, Nr Worksop
A must have
This is so easy and discreet to use, and is very effective. My worry was that it would leak or dribble but it doesn't! No more hovering over horrid toilets or exposing your backside to the world. I've even bought one for a friend who at first was a little taken aback and then really pleased. An excellent product that’s easy to carry around for that "nasty toilet" or no toilet scenario. By Pamela from Taunton
EXCELLENT PRODUCT
This 100% watertight camera case does exactly what it states on the description. It keeps out water, sand etc, and you can still take good quality photos through the bag. By Beverly from Abercarn
A classic piece of kit
The North Face Base Camp Messenger Bag: It’s easy to be more than a bit suspicious about a product description which sings the praises of the latest product. This bag however is quite simply the best casual sack I've ever used. The same construction as their world-beating holdalls, it is of the highest quality. Good size, perfect for the city or the mountains. Durable isn’t the word: it's unbreakable! £50 I hear you say... a bit steep for a messenger bag?? Maybe - but with timeless styling and near-bombproof construction, I reckon I will still be using mine in 5 years time! Note to The North Face: Please make a daysack like this!! By Craig from Dundee
Handy little travel lock
This lock came in handy for securing my rucksack in a bus to the seat (or overhead shelf - I heard of lots of bags that went missing from there) and also in hostels where they provided lockers but no locks. The only criticism is that the number pads often got 'stuck' and it took me ages to unlock it. The trick is to push the metal bit in as much as you can before turning the number pad, if that makes sense! By Eeva from London
What a cool bag
This is just such a cool bag. Superbly made from heavy weight canvas, big enough for wallet / phone /bits and bobs.....I love it. My wife calls it my man bag.....lol.....it's just cool! By Ian from Leominster

The must have bag

Sleeping bag liner
These bags come in a range of colours which helped with encouraging my nine year old daughter to 'go with it' when I was ordering these. The flap for inserting a pillow (I guess) is pretty ineffectual, never used and not likely to be. The liners pack up well and simply get packed away in the hood of each down bag when stuffing into sacs. As is usual with this type of product, too much tossing and turning in the night meant that they could become twisted around the body, as my daughter puts it "you don't know where they are". Certainly though, with frost on the ground and plummeting night time temperatures, these liners did add a degree of cosiness to the night time slumber! By Julian from Sittingbourne

Hammock
Hammock is very small and perfect to travel with, used it on the beach all the time and good material which dries quickly. Only disadvantage is that you will need some sort of rope to be able to get it up and it's not specified when you buy it. By Caroline from Mellieha
Drinking magic...
This product is indispensible if travelling in countries with less than perfect hygiene or water supplies. Whenever we have had stomach trouble, the rehydration powder has always made sure we were not left weak and exhausted, and so we have been able to continue our trips with as little inconvenience as possible. Recommended! By Birgitte from Denmark
One for the ladies too!
I've just completed a half marathon walk in a pair of these and cannot rate them more highly as a good general walking shoe that'll go the distance. I have quite wide feet so find the women's Merrells a little too narrow for my feet. The men's version of this shoe was perfect! By Alida from Frome
The new Lonely Planet city (Encounter) books are much better

The Berghaus Park It & Me - Inseperable this winter!
What a Jacket! I have had the Park-It for a month now and I can tell it's going to be my best friend this winter. The quality and finish is great, the fabric is a good weight and provides plenty of warmth without feeling like the michellin man. On the down side, I did have to exchange my original order of Medium for a Small (the sizing is very generous as I swam around inside my normal medium size) but Nomad were great in helping. A slightly expensive jacket but the quality ensures the price ticket is worth it. Bring on the rest of winter now, I'm ready! By J. Finster - London
Berghaus 24/7 - but more like 9hrs & 5 days
I definitely don't use this 24/7 (that would just be silly sleeping with it on) but I do use it to take to work so it's actually closer to 9/5. Large enough to fit my files, lunch and a book to read. It doesn't scream "backpacker" either with it's smart looks. The Mp3 player pouch is also a nice touch as I don't need to keep it in my pocket. By E.McGuire (Liverpool)
The Berghaus Park-It is well worth the money
A little pricey but worth every penny. It feels like summer inside the Berghaus Park-It coat. Who needs The North Face when Berghaus are this Awesome! By M. Dawes (Sheffield)
These Merrell shoes were made for walking...
The Chameleon Wrap feel like a cross between a trail runner and a pair of trainers. Very comfy and the "bumper" on the front made my toes feel and BE very protected. The goretex lining kept my feet dry without getting too hot as the rain and puddles couldn't and didn't penetrate the outer skin. The sole is Merrell's Vibram Chameleon Sport Sole and this provided good grip on most outdoor terrain, but wasn't so great in the city. A few times on slided on wet tiles and metal drain covers. Other than that, these shoes were definitely made for walking and thats just what I'll do! By M. Hannant (London)

I really love this jacket. Considering the unpredictable weather we are having at the moment it works really well. I also love the colour I bought (Knight Purple), it is so stylish. Etip Gloves on the Gadget Show
Just received these after seeing them on the Gadget Show on Five last Monday 30.12.09 and then only took 2 days to receive (excellent service - thanks Nomad!). I can't wait to try them out in the cold but testing them indoors they work fantastic. Not a huge fan of the geeky design but tucked up under my winter coat they will be fine. By Lauren from London

TOUGH PADLOCK
The padlock was a good size & felt very sturdy & secure. It fitted onto every locker I encountered in Hostels and Rail Stations. - Elaine K
BERGHAUS JALAN WOMANS WHEELIE
I found it a good size, large enough to hold all I needed but compact enough not to be cumbersome or encourage me to pack too much. It had useful pockets that were large enough to actually be practical. The bottom compartment was very spacious, easily enough room for all my shoes (including walking boots) as well as all the gifts I bought along the way. The back system was comfortable and fairly uncomplicated and easy to pack away. It didn’t take up too much space or add too much weight either. The wheels were sturdy and durable but I found the handle quite inconveniently short when pulling the bag. A longer handle or extending handle would have been good but the one attached still works fine. - Elaine K
BITE FREE BUG SPRAY. YAY!
The bug spray came in very useful, in the south especially. As the only person with DEET, I became pretty popular with the rest of the group. It wasn’t too smelly & the bottle lasted well. - Elaine K.
COMPACT TROPICAL QUILT
Very compact and convenient. At nights it was light but still warm & comfortable – Elaine K.
PACSAFE SECURE NECK BAG
It was perfect for my passport & money. I would have preferred a fabric strap rather than cord – it would have been more comfortable around the neck but this still works fine. - Elaine K
Travel shirt that fitted in on a classy night out
Great shirt that was smart enough to get me into some clubs on holiday. And there were no mossie bites thru the material. Highly recommend this for all holidays. - Matt L
Non Greasy Sun Protection
Not greasy, didn't slip off in the water and the high SPF factor kept me safe from turning pink in Greece - S. Watts
FOLD-UP TOILETRY BAG
I was impressed with how much I was able to fit into the toilet bag while still being compact. The net section was great for my toothbrush & I was glad I didn’t have to worry about everything getting ruined if something leaked.- Elaine K
Stay dry for less
The Regatta Toro jacket at Nomad's price is great value for money. Rain protection and windproofing are excellent as are the features and the quality of construction. A slight gripe is the noisy fabric which "rustles" as you move but this is less apparent in the rain and when it's dry you don't wear it if it bothers you! Nomad's service is EXCELLENT. Buy with confidence.
Sahara Indiana - The wear & tear of the vintage look?
Being the geek I am I had to get this item. It's one of the best modern renditions of the old mark 7 gasmask bag I've seen. I was devastated when the one my grandad had used was stolen from me. So this has been a very cool discovery. When the item arrived I noticed there was some wear on the strap webbing. As if someone had been pulling the webbing through forcefully. Maybe the end is too narrow for the width of strap? That being said it's the only thing that could be deemed a fault, and kind of adds to the vintage look. I would have rated the bag a 5 but for that bit of wear. By Gary
Love this North Face Metropolis Jacket
This has great all over body warmth and now that its turned cold I wear this to the markets on the weekend and to work on those frightingly cold days to work. it sill looks smart and stylish. Excellent quality and not overly puffed up either. By Sarah from Bishops Stortford
Great bag, Best I've had in years.
I have had mine for a few weeks now & have to say I am really happy with it. I used to get bags similar to this from army surplus stores when I was a kid & they were great, I used them all through school & college & even carried one when I worked as a dispatch rider riding from London to Glasgow & Edinburgh a couple of times a week, sadly the old army surplus stores a few & far between now so I was really pleased when I stumbled across this bag online. It's just as sturdily made as the ones I used to get & has a real vintage look & feel to it. If I have one small gripe it is that the zip would have been better fitted the other way around, I am right handed & when wearing it on my right side the zip opens from the back to the front of the bag, I usually keep a water bottle in the smaller section of the bag & it would be handy if I could just leave that part of the zip open to get to the bottle with out opening the bag fully. Otherwise it is certainly the best every day carry bag I have had in years. plenty of room for my mp3 player, ebook, water bottle & other bits I may need & there are couple of handy sections on the back so I can keep tickets & small local maps handy. The strap is nice & wide which spreads the load well, I carried it for about 12 hours around London yesterday & hardly knew it was there. A great bag well pleased :-)
A great insulated jacket
The Fuego jacket is excellent value. It is quite roomy so i could fit a fleece layer underneath when I was up in the artic circle in Norway. I also put an outer shell for extra water and wind protection. I haven't tried it as a pillow yet but it seems like it could be quite a firm pillow. I was hesitant to purchase as it is not Primaloft but so far this has been a definite contender at about 30% less the price. very happy with this jacket. Thanks Nomad. Submitted by D. Salmon (London)
Great Jacket for outstanding value
