1. Proof of Positive Result

What is a Covid-19 Recovery Certificate?

The COVID recovery certificate states that you have had COVID-19, but have since recovered. The certificate proves that you are thought to have natural immunity from re-infection.

How much does a Covid-19 Recovery Certificate cost?

COVID recovery certificates cost £79 – £129 per person through the online assessment form provided by our laboratory partner Medicspot. Price is dependent on your choice of either a 2 hour or a 12 hour service.

How do COVID-19 Recovery Certificates work?

To order your COVID recovery certificate, you will need to provide a positive test result and demonstrate that you have recovered from COVID-19. You will need to present this results when your complete your order form AND when you travel. We will ask you some questions to ensure you have recovered from COVID-19.

How do I prove that I no longer have COVID-19?

It is widely accepted that after 11 days of COVID-19 infection you are likely to have recovered and no longer be actively infected. If you are still unwell, then it is likely you have not yet recovered. Answer the questions when completing your order form and Doctors will assess whether you are likely to still be actively infected.

How long is a COVID Recovery Certificate valid for?

Different countries have different validity periods for certificates of COVID recovery and these time frames may change at any time. It is important that you check the requirements at your destinations before you travel or complete your order form.

How many days after my test or symptoms can I apply for a COVID Recovery Letter?

You can apply after 11 days from your positive results if you have been free of symptoms for 48 hours. If you have completed 11 days since your symptoms started, and you are otherwise well, it can be normal for you to have some ongoing shortness of breath after COVID-19. As long as this is improving, you are unlikely to be infected or infective, so you may still be approved to get a COVID Recovery Letter.

You can get a Covid Recovery certificate for up to 180 days after you tested positive, but not in the most recent 11 days. Remember to check if these timeframes meet the entry requirements of your destination.

What type of Covid test is accepted to get the Proof of Recovery Certificate?

The accepted test type depends on your destination, airline, work or event requirements. Some countries will only accept PCR tests, others will accept any type of test that was administered by a clinician rather than the patient themselves.

What can a Covid Recovery Certificate be used for?

COVID-19 recovery certificates are required for some events, travel destination entry requirements or airlines. The certificates proves a Doctor has assessed the certified individual has recovered from COVID-19.

Can I still get a certificate if I have recovered from COVID-19 but my tests are still positive?

Yes, in this instance the COVID-19 recovery certificate is ideal for you! Tests after recovery from infection with COVID-19 can be positive for weeks or months. If you recovered and are still testing positive for COVID but are not showing symptoms, a Doctor can assess from the answers you submit if you have recovered and are no longer at risk of infecting others.

Who can get a Covid-19 Recovery Certificate?

Anyone aged 5 years or over who has evidence of a positive COVID-19 test result between 11 and 180 days prior, and who has recovered, is likely to be eligible for a COVID recovery certificate. Each case will be individually assessed by a Doctor who will be bound by their professional standards to only produce a certificate of recovery if they think it is safe and correct to do so. In some countries, the certificate is only valid for 90 days following a positive test – you must check your destination entry requirements before you order a certificate.

Where can I get a Covid-19 Recovery Certificate for travel in the UK?

You can order a COVID-19 recovery certificate in minutes using the online form. All you need to submit is your proof of a positive COVID test dated more than 11 days prior. We will ask you some questions and request that you upload your positive result document. If eligible you will receive your letter within 12 hours.

How will I receive my Certificate?

Your certificate will be emailed to you by the laboratory as a PDF within 12 hours of submission of your COVID form including your details and documentation.

How long after first experiencing Coronavirus symptoms can you get a Covid Recovery Certificate?

You need to have been symptom-free for more than 11 days or 14 days if you were hospitalised before you can complete a COVID recovery certificate form. If you order a certificate too soon or later, you will not receive a certificate and will not be refunded.

Can you use a COVID Recovery Certificate for travel?

Yes, this is the most common use of the COVID-19 recovery certificate as they are required for entry to some destinations, events, flights etc. You must check the requirements of your airline and destination country before completing your order for a COVID recovery certificate.

Can I enter the UK with a Covid Recovery Certificate?

Can I use at-home rapid test results as proof of infection?

No, you must submit evidence of a test result that was completed by a laboratory, such as a PCR test. Home test kits, like rapid antigen tests, are not accepted. as proof of COVID-19 infection. Photos of test kits are not accepted.

What types of certificate/evidence of infection are accepted?

Any test from a laboratory with your name and your test date (dated within the past 11-180 days) is accepted. Your result document can be a PDF from a private laboratory or a screenshot (or photo) of an NHS test result notification – as long as we can see the name and date.

How can I send my evidence of previous infection to you?

PDFs can be uploaded on the certificate order form. Images of NHS tests can be uploaded too, but with the following requirements:

For all screenshots and screen captures:

  • The image must be of the entire screen, to show the toolbar (which usually includes the time) at the top of the page
  • For screenshots of websites, this must include the website address
  • For screenshots of apps, this must include everything on the screen at that time
  • For screenshots of text messages, this must include everything on the screen at that time, including the name/number of the sender

What if my evidence is rejected?

If there is any question by the assessing Doctor regarding the validity of the evidence, it will not be accepted. Where there are signs of tampering of certificates and documentation, customers will be banned from using the Medicspot service in future and will not receive a refund.

Can I travel to the United States with a Covid Recovery Certificate?

We aim to produce letters that will be accepted so that you can travel to the US with our Covid Recovery Letters. But please check the US Government websites first. On 15 December 2021, proof of immunity (Covid Recovery Certificates) was valid in the US for 90 days. Can I travel to Spain, Germany, France, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, the Netherlands or other countries in the EU with a Covid Recovery Certificate?

We aim to produce letters that will be accepted so that you can travel to the European Union. But please check the EU websites first. On 15 December 2021, Covid Recovery Certificates were valid (but with some variation in validity of duration, varying between 90 and 180 days) and lateral flow tests were not accepted. Can I travel to Australia with a Covid Recovery Letter?

The Australian Government and airlines such as Qantas, have their own requirements for the validity of these certificates, so please check these and add any additional information required when you complete the assessment form. This may include the start and end date of your symptoms, and confirmation that you haven’t had a fever or respiratory symptoms for over 72 hours.
