London Nurse Supervisor

The Role

The role requires a dynamic, self-motivated supervisor to manage and support Nomad’s London nursing team. The London Nurse Supervisor is part of the senior clinical support team, reporting directly to the Clinical HR Lead. The London Nurse Supervisor provides managerial, clinical and administrative support to the front-line nurses across our London locations including facilitating monthly one-to-ones. The role requires someone to be the ‘go-to’ person for the London nurses, capable of building relationships and providing proactive support.

This is a mainly frontline role – you will be expected to continue working in-clinic providing travel health consultations. However, protected off rota time will be allocated according to the needs of the business. This will develop over time but will initially be one day per week of purely off rota time, whilst the workload in the role is assessed. Any changes to this will be in consultation with the employee.

Responsibilities:

Management and Mentorship
  • Support London nurses as needed and gain insight into nurse development, shaping staff development plans
  • Be the first port of call for London Lead Nurses in any query relating to HR, specifically, but be open to any other query/issue staff may wish to discuss with a supervisor
  • Complete probationary reviews and appraisals
  • Be involved in any performance management required across all departments. Despite being specifically responsible for the London clinic team, you may be requested to complete records of conversations, and investigations into issues that arise
Commercial Dealings
  • Responsible for ensuring clinic stations are open on the most commercially advantageous days
  • You will provide insight on trading patterns and be reactive, making quick decisions to reduce costs or capitalise on trade
HR Administration, in conjunction with Clinic Lead Nurses
  • Manage the frontline rota for the London clinics providing drafts to the Clinical HR Lead
  • Responsible for the authorisation of annual leave for the London clinical teams
  • Support in the management of staff sickness and be a point of contact for reporting
  • Support in the management of return to work interviews and associated paperwork
  • Monthly sign off of the London payroll
Staff Recruitment
  • Be responsible for the recruitment of the front line nursing team
  • CV filtering and interviewing
  • Reporting on employee statistics
Induction, Onboarding & Ongoing Education
  • Liaise directly with the Clinical HR Lead and Education Lead in arranging training in the London Clinics
  • Ensure the clinical team have protected and supported time for induction and onboarding into the business

Personal Characteristics:

  • Ambitious and driven – workload will vary and you must be able to handle high pressure at times
  • A good communicator, able to build rapport with the team and enable open discussions
  • Flexible and able to manage your priorities independently
  • Confident with Office 365 cloud software and workflows

Additional Expectations

  • On occasion, you may be expected to take calls outside of working hours when required. This is particularly pertinent in the management of sick leave and staff issues
  • Remain on the frontline as required and clinic time will form a regular part of the working week. This will be planned in advance according to the business needs
  • Expected to calendar holidays in conjunction with the Senior Team to ensure we have strong cover in important trading times

Lead Travel Health Nurses

The Role

The role requires you to be responsible for the overall management of a Nomad travel clinic location. You will complete daily comprehensive travel health consultations administering risk assessments, health advice, vaccinations, malaria prophylaxis, medical kits and other travel related medicines within the framework of Nomad Patient Group Directions. You will maintain accurate client records on Nomad’s CMR record system and manage bookings. The role requires a good communicator – you will be the link between your clinic team and the clinical operations manager. As Lead Nurse, you will manage the day-to-day running of your clinic and will be expected to continually deliver a high standard of customer service to Nomad clients while maintaining safe clinical services.

You’ll be required to comply with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and to read, understand and follow guidelines and standards of practice as set out in Nomad policies. Working towards expected levels of practice as per the RCN Travel Health competencies and development framework 2018 and used within context of meeting revalidation requirements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide travel health risk assessments and advice to B2B and B2C clients in the travel clinic
  • Administration of vaccines, antimalarial tablets, medical kits and medicines under a signed Delegation of Authority according to the Patient Group Directives for Nomad
  • Reporting of any adverse effects of vaccines to the Medical Operations Manager 
  • Advising ‘high risk’ clients; appropriately liaising with Nomad’s Doctor/Head Pharmacist when required
  • Disseminating information to the Clinical Nurse Trainer, Medical Operations Manager or other senior support staff

Qualifications and registrations:  

  • Essential: current registration with NMC
  • Essential: current a qualification in Registered Nursing 
  • Desirable: Foundation/ Diploma in Travel Medicine

Travel Health Nurses

The Role

The role requires you to undertake COVID testing and comprehensive Travel Health Consultations on a daily basis. You will deliver risk assessments, administering advice, vaccinations, malaria prophylaxis, medical kits and other travel medicines within the framework of Nomad Patient Group Directions Responsible. Nomad provides PCR swab, Antigen point of care swab, point of care Antibody and venepuncture Antibody testing for COVID-19. Clinicians provide clients with certificates and documents for travel or work. You will maintain accurate client records on Nomad’s CMR system. Ensuring good communication between your clinic team and clinical operations manager and maintaining safe clinical services.  The role requires you to consistently deliver a high standard of customer service to Nomad clients.  

You will be expected to comply with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and to read, understand and follow guidelines and standards of practice as set out in Nomad policies. You will work towards expected levels of practice as per the RCN Travel Health competencies and development framework 2018 and used within context of meeting revalidation requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake COVID-19 testing for travellers and businesses in a COVID secure environment 
  • Interpretating test results and providing clients with Certificates for travel or work purposes
  • Provide travel health risk assessments and advice to clients in the travel clinic  
  • Administration of vaccines, antimalarial tablets, medical kits and medicines under a signed Delegation of Authority according to the Patient Group Directives for Nomad
  • Reporting of any adverse effects of vaccines to the Lead Nurse / Medical Operations manager 
  • Advising ‘high risk’ clients appropriately liaising with Nomad’s Doctor/Head Pharmacist when require
  • Disseminating information pertaining to changes in vaccine regimes/ vaccines being used or any other medical matters to Lead Nurse / Clinical Nurse Trainer / Medical Operations Manager

  • Work within Nomad clinic guidelines and policies to ensure smooth running of the clinic
  • Undertake an internal Structured Training Programme of Travel Health training with Clinical Nurse Trainer
  • Attendance of professional study days
