2.  Carry a hand sanitizer

The risk of picking up infections in such large crowded environments is high. Reduce the risk of respiratory infections including MERS-Coronovirus by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Use a hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available throughout the day. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

 

3.  Oral rehydration solution

Walking for long periods in such hot climates increases the risk for dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. It is important to take regular rest breaks and stay hydrated by drinking safe water, bottled or purified. Oral rehydration solution can help prevent and treat dehydration particularly if suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea.

 

4.  Sunscreen lotion

The risk of sunburn is high particularly to your head, face and feet as these areas of your body will be most exposed to strong UVA and UVB rays. Use a Sunscreen that contains good protection against both UVA and UVB. Apply sunscreen before heading out in the sun and then reapply frequently throughout the day. An umbrella is useful to protect from the sun as this can offer shade.

 

5.  First Aid

It is essential to travel with a Medical Kit. Minor injuries and illnesses are relatively common and you should he prepared to manage these. Your medical kit should include pain killers, dressings and plasters, antiseptic, antifungal cream, diarrhoea relief medication, cough syrup, antihistamines, insect repellent and face masks.

 

6.  Money belt
